The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) now allows HB Pencils in CBT Exam for 2024/2025.
Candidates scheduled to take the mock test on March 7th, 2024, can now bring ordinary HB pencils into the examination hall for numerical analysis purposes.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for JAMB, revealed this development in a statement released on Wednesday.
He clarified that the decision to allow HB pencils was made in response to numerous inquiries from candidates seeking clarification on permissible items in the exam hall.
Previously, the Board prohibited the use of pencils and certain other materials due to concerns about potential malpractice.
However, JAMB has revised its policy and approved the use of HB pencils during the Mock-UTME and the main examination scheduled to commence on Friday, 19th April 2024.
Candidates participating in the mock exam and requiring writing materials for calculations are advised to bring their HB pencils with an extra copy of their mock slip printout.
It’s important to note that while HB pencils are now allowed, other items such as watches, pens or biros, mobile phones or similar electronic devices, spy reading glasses, calculators, hard disks or similar storage devices, books or any reading material, cameras, recorders, and microphones remain banned.
Candidates are urged to adhere strictly to these guidelines to avoid any issues during the examination.
