The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the Federal College of Education, Kano, as a full-fledged university.
This monumental decision was conveyed through a letter dated August 14, 2024, with reference number FME/TE/CU/432/VOL. 1/132, marks a significant milestone in the institution’s history [1).
The upgraded institution will now be the Federal University of Education, Kano.
As part of this transition, Dr. Sadi Mohammed Sirajo has been appointed as the Acting Vice-Chancellor, while other principal officers will continue to discharge their duties in an acting capacity.
This upgrade is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance the quality of teacher education in Nigeria.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) had previously approved the conversion of four federal colleges of education, including the Federal College of Education, Kano, to universities of education.
