Tinubu Appoints UNICAL Governing Councils and other members.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Bala Ngalari, the former Governor of Adamawa State, as the pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of University of Calabar, UNICAL.

The appointment comes after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) threatened to embark on another strike due to the delay in appointing the Governing Councils and the government’s nonchalant attitude towards academic matters.
This appointment is part of a larger move by the Federal Government to appoint Governing Councils for 111 federal universities, polytechnics, and Colleges of Education.
The appointments come days after the Academic Staff Union of Universities had threatened to embark on another strike, potentially disrupting the academic calendar and causing further setbacks in the country’s higher education sector.
