The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has categorically denied rumours about the alleged sacking of its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Banku Obi.
In a statement released by the Head of Media, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, John Ogar, the university described the speculations as baseless, unfounded, and the handiwork of mischief makers.
According to the statement, Prof. Obi is currently on approved leave and remains the institution’s Vice-Chancellor.
The university urged the public to disregard the rumours and advised those seeking to take over from her to focus on how they can fit into her “big shoes” rather than trying to discredit her.
The university also assured that the institution’s system has remained robust and functional in Prof.
As the university awaits her return, it expressed confidence that Prof. Obi will continue her good work of leading UNICAL towards even greater heights.
