Only Students From Federal Universities Can Access Student Loan Immediately – FG.
The Federal Government has announced that only students from federal institutions will have immediate access to the new student loan programme.
This initiative, led by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), is set to benefit up to 1.2 million students in its initial phase.
Mr Akintunde Sawyerr, the Managing Director of NELFUND, revealed that the first phase of the student loan programme is exclusively for students from federal tertiary institutions.
This announcement comes as the government prepares to open the student loan application portal on Friday, 24th May 2024.
Sawyerr emphasised that the programme will expand to include state institutions in subsequent phases.
