Renowned Nigerian gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, and her husband, Blessed Uzochikwa, have extended a generous offer to 100 students of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) by providing full scholarships through the Mercyisblessed Foundation.
This philanthropic gesture was announced during their visit to the university on Friday, July 12, 2024.
The scholarship, which includes full payment of school fees and additional support for indigent and bright students, aims to promote stability in learning.
The selection criteria and modalities for eligible candidates will be communicated through appropriate channels, and the scholarship will take effect immediately.
This is not the first time the couple has demonstrated their commitment to giving back to society.
In April, they awarded scholarships to 50 undergraduates at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) on behalf of their foundation and their son, Charis.
Chinwo, who recently released a 12-track album titled ‘Overwhelming Victory’, expressed her gratitude to the city of Port Harcourt, where she grew up, and emphasized the importance of giving back to the community.
She encouraged students to pursue their dreams, trusting in God’s “Excess Love”.
The singer is known for her hit projects, including ‘Elevated’, ‘Wonder’, and ‘Confidence’, among others.
