NOUN Admission Seekers Now Mandated to Register with JAMB. Details are as follows:

In a move aimed at curbing fraudulent activities, the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has made it compulsory for individuals seeking admission into the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and other open distance learning centres to register via JAMB.

It’s important to note that while registration with JAMB is now mandatory, candidates will not be required to sit for the JAMB examination.

This new requirement is solely for registration purposes, aimed at ensuring the integrity of the admission process.

This new directive requires candidates to provide their unique National Identification Number (NIN) during the registration process.

According to a recent advisory released by JAMB, this measure is designed to prevent fraudulent characters from compromising candidates’ records through dubious registration channels.

The advisory states that all applicants seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions must provide their NIN while registering for any programme, regardless of whether the mode of study is regular or non-regular.

To facilitate a seamless registration process, JAMB has instructed prospective candidates in the non-regular category (NOUN, Distance Learning, Part-time, and Sandwich programmes) to create a profile code by sending their NIN to either of the Board’s short codes (55019 or 66019).

Similarly, previous candidates in non-regular programmes who have not integrated their NIN or unique phone number on the Board’s platform must create a profile using their respective NINs to access JAMB services.

JAMB has assured that its platform will remain available throughout the year, making the registration process flexible for candidates.

Candidates are expected to apply through JAMB before approaching their preferred institutions to process their admission with their respective JAMB registration numbers.

They will also be required to pay a processing fee as determined by their preferred institution.
