The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof Ishaq Oloyede, has revealed that more than 1.94 million candidates participated in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Speaking on Wednesday in Kaduna during an inspection of Computer Based Test (CBT) centres in the state amidst the ongoing JAMB examinations, Oloyede disclosed that by the end of the examination day, fewer than 100,000 candidates would remain in Lagos, Benue, and other states nationwide.
Oloyede attributed the swiftness of the examination process to the efficiency in clearing candidates and capturing biometrics, which contributed to making the exercise faster.
He highlighted that this was part of JAMB’s re-engineering efforts to ensure a seamless and hitch-free exercise.
“In our quest for improvement, we have identified areas that require enhancement.
However, significant strides have been made behind the scenes to streamline the exercise, making it faster, more efficient, and better. We have ramped up automation to a higher level,” he said.
JAMB has also hinted that the board could conduct an exam for those who missed it for various reasons.
